Tarukas in Chile

Project’s Chairman: Nicolás Fuentes-Allende

This project was funded by the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) in Arica y Parinacota Distric and carried out between March and December 2014. It is called “Assessment of the factors influencing the local distribution of Taruka in Lauca National Park (Arica y Parinacota District) and Volcán Isluga National Park (Tarapaca District)”.

We identified local distribution and habitat preferences through census and camera traps. We also made a species distribution model for this species in Chile where we found tarukas mainly live in unprotected areas (SNASPE).
